a very close observation
Hi there! Brucey does this weird thing and I was wondering if anyone here had an explanation for it. Sometimes while he’s in his cage he’ll flip forward on a perch and spread his wings out. It looks completely intentional. While he’s doing that he’ll lose his balance and then start flailing and flapping his wings around his cage freaking out in this way that almost looks like he can’t really control himself. The thing is, he does this a lot. And it even seems like he does it when he wants attention and to get out of his cage (which we barely ever keep him in, he’s just a spoiled brat). I’ve tried to search around to see if any blogs/forums talk about a similar thing online, but I can only bring up things about seizures but I don’t think that’s what it is. I’ve also seen one bird have a similar frantic moment at a local bird shop.
I’m mostly worried because it looks like he could seriously hurt himself doing that some day.
So, does anybody know anything about this? Any thoughts?

Got a travel cage for $10 at Birds of Paradise today!
Put a little piece of millet in there so he’ll be ok with it. As long as he has millet, he doesn’t care.
Brucey very rarely enjoys showers, but when he looked like he was enjoying the sun rays I grabbed water bottle, filled it up with warm water, and went at him. It’s nice to see him enjoy a shower for once because it’s so rare.
Especially since birds bathing is so damn cute!
